NREL Renewable Energy Resource Data

This data is derived from the Wind Integration National Dataset (WIND) Toolkit and the Solar Integration National Dataset (SIND). The WIND Toolkit provides meteorological conditions and turbine power for more than 126,000 land-based and offshore wind sites across the continental United States and contains:
+Meteorological data at 100m above ground level at 5-minute resolution, that is
- wind speed [m/s]
- wind direction [degree]
- temperature [K], and
- pressure [Pa].
+ Computed wind power [MW] assuming a 100m hub height at 5-minute resolution
+ Forecasted wind power [MW] data as well as forecast probabilities at hourly resolution

The SIND Toolkit provides subhourly solar irradiance and power data for more than 155,000 locations across the continental United States. It is designed to assist researchers and utilities in solar generation integration studies and contains:
+ Meteorological data at ground level at 1-minute resolution, that is
- solar irradiance, that is GHI, DNI, clear-sky GHI [W/m^2]
- wind speed [m/s]
- temperature [degree Celsius]
- solar zenith angle [degree]
+ Computed solar power [MW] assuming a variety of technologies (Fixed tilt, single axis tracking, dual axis tracking, distributed residential) at 1-minute resolution

Further details about the WIND and SIND Toolkit can be found in the following papers:
